About Blue Lotus
The Blue Lotus is a fragrant water lily from ancient Egypt. The flower is blue-purple in color. For the ancient Egyptians, the Blue Lotus was a sacred plant. More than three thousand years ago, the Egyptians grew the flower along the banks of the Nile. The Blue Lotus is depicted in many temples. Almost all stories and myths talk about the Blue Lotus and its powers. In Egypt, each story focuses on a different god. The Blue Lotus is closely linked to the Egyptian gods Osiris, Nefertem and Ra. In many temples you see hieroglyphs and sculptures of the Blue Lotus. The god Nefertem is shown as a man with a lotus flower on his head. Nefertem is called 'the blossom that is in front of the nose of Ra'. He offered the flower as an offering to the sun god Ra to ease the pain of his old body.
